Hack the Scroll Lock key and turn an ordinary keyboard into a bright light one for under $5.
Ok mine worked, but here's my tips:
1) I used thin 8g wire for the LED, and used thick 14g wire as a support rod, and wrapped the LED wire around the support. Sturdier, but still flexible.
2) I drilled the hole where the scroll lock LED was, less distance = less wire.
3) How the hell did you get 2 LEDs working on one indicator? Two LEDs = 3.0v min, but my meter reads 1.5v coming from the keyboard!
4) I sandpapered the LED to diffuse it, then extended some tubing around it to focus it.
booo this sucks. (sorry lol). i thought maybe i'd have a illuminated KEYBOARD, like u know.. those cool Razer/Logitech keyboards that're lighted from underneath.... lol
I tried that, mine worked fine with 1 led, but as soon as I tried connecting the other, they both went out. I tried series and parallel. Maybe there just isn't enough current in my keyboard to feed them both.
I could have handled the illuminated keyboard hack by myself, but I would never, ever have made it to the Magnet scoops all the screws trick. Thank god for that! Well what I do is put paper on my keyboard then light it on fire. It kinda hurts when you type though.
keyboard look silly but very functional. i the man is so "man" (mechanic), that hong kong guy are stupid to do it.i hate to say this but that looks a bit ghetto y not just get a keyboard thats already illuminated for like 60 to 80ish bucks like the razer lycosa i got one and i can see all the keys and it doesnt look as ghetto and its a nice blue colo. Check out this blog laptop battery hack.
